What is interior protection film?
Interior protection film applies the same principle as exterior PPF to surfaces inside the vehicle. It is a clear, optically transparent film — cut precisely to fit specific panels — that protects against scratches, UV discolouration, fingerprints and daily wear.
The most common applications are touchscreen displays, instrument clusters, centre console trim, door handle recesses and gear selector surrounds. These are the areas that see the most contact during normal use and are most susceptible to scratching and surface wear.
Touchscreen and display protection
Modern vehicles integrate large glass touchscreen displays that control most vehicle functions. These screens accumulate fine scratches from fingernails and rings over time, which can reduce clarity and affect resale value. Clear screen protection film provides a sacrificial layer over the glass. The film can be replaced as needed, keeping the screen looking new.
Quality interior screen film maintains full touch sensitivity and optical clarity. The film is cut to the exact dimensions of the screen using templates or precision plotters, ensuring complete coverage without affecting the bezel or buttons around it.
Centre console and trim protection
High-gloss piano-black trim is a common feature in modern vehicles. It looks impressive when new but shows fingerprints, scratches and swirl marks very easily. Interior protection film on piano-black surfaces creates a barrier against these marks. The film maintains the gloss appearance of the trim while resisting everyday contact scratches.
Door handle recesses
Painted door handle recesses accumulate fine scratches from fingernails and rings over years of daily use. This is one of the most cost-effective interior PPF applications — a small piece of film that prevents years of gradual damage to a visible panel. The film is typically invisible once installed and can be replaced easily if damaged.
UV protection for leather and soft materials
Certain interior panel films and transparent coatings also contain UV-blocking compounds that reduce the rate of fading and cracking in leather and soft-touch materials exposed to direct sunlight. This is particularly relevant for dashboards, steering wheels and headrests on vehicles regularly parked in direct sun.
Combining interior film with exterior PPF
Customers who invest in exterior PPF for their vehicle will often extend this care to the interior. A full protection package covers the exterior painted surfaces and the most vulnerable interior contact points, maintaining the condition of the vehicle throughout.
